5 Tips to Get Beach Ready Quick

Image
Memorial Day weekend signifies the start of summer and, along with the promise of warm weather, fun days at the beach to beat the heat are mandatory.   So, it is right about now, we start to regret all those broken New Year’s resolutions to get into shape.   But don’t despair because, with these 5 tips, you will find yourself ready for some fun in the sun in no time at all. SELF-TANNER    A little color will go a long way Everyone looks better with a tan.   There is no denying that a little sun can make pale skin look vibrant and fresh but you don’t have to put yourself in harm’s way with UV Rays to get a healthy-looking glow.   My “go to” quick fix is a spray tan at my local tanning salon.   Within hours, my problem areas seem to disappear.   A little color camouflage helps to hide my cellulite and gives my abs some faux definition.   There is nothing sassier than some golden brown shoulders and I love that I don’t have to wear a lot of make-up. If you can’t make it to a

Eat. Drink and be Skinny Guest Contributor Post: Part II

Image
With my Tri Sprint only three weeks from today, I am definitely back in the saddle with my training.  So it was only appropriate that my second guest contributor post --  training for your first sprint triathlon: bike portion -- on Eat. Drink and be Skinny was published. http://eatdrinkandbeskinny.com/8-week-sprint-triathlon-plan-bike-portion/ And these posts have really hit home . My family and I just signed up as Team Mausser for our first sprint relay at the June Lake Tri in July.  I am proud to report that my own husband has been using the bike training plan from my post. Stay tuned for our results and my final post on EDBS about the run training later this summer.

Eat. Drink and be Skinny Guest Contributor Post

Image
A few months back, I saw that one of my favorite bloggers -- Teresa from Eat. Drink and be Skinny -- was looking for contributing writers.  Mostly Teresa posts about running (hence how I found her) and all things encompassing living healthy (why I remain a loyal follower) but she truly is an expert in her field. What impressed me most about Teresa in her bio from her blog: "She's more than just a nutrition expert, fitness enthusiast or health advocate. She is the real deal. Backed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Science, a Masters in Business, a CPT from ACE and 14+ years of professional experience in the weight loss industry working on a corporate level for Jenny Craig and the past three as an independent Health Coach with clients across the globe." I applied straightaway and you can only imagine how honored I am to have been selected to be a guest contributor for EDBS. Here is my first post in a "Tri" part series on training for your first sp

8 Healthy Habits for Losing Weight Right Now!

Recently posted on Mogul... A few years ago, I was plagued with some serious stomach issues that turned out to be Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or more commonly known as Acid Reflux. In order to reset, I had to make some serious lifestyle changes.    I was already a pretty healthy person by nature – I don’t smoke and move my body for exercise on a regular basis – but there were a few bad habits that caused my busted gut. In addition to eating too much at one sitting and too close to bedtime, my addiction to spicy foods, love of champagne and daily coffee intake were literally burning me up from the inside out. So I immediately began to avoid (some of) these trigger foods and, once I got used to my new fit practices, the extra pounds started melting away for good.   #1 Eat Breakfast Every Day Eating a Healthy Breakfast Can Offer Enhanced Performance and Weight Loss We’ve heard it all our lives, a nutritious breakfast will keep you going until lunch time

7 Any Place, Any Time Exercises that will Literally Kick Your Butt into Shape

As previously posted on Mogul... With my busy life, I struggle to find time to get to the gym. Between my career, the kids and everything else in-between; working on my fitness always finds itself at the bottom of the list so I had to find a solution. If I could just carve out at least 15 minutes a day to move my body, it would be 15 more minutes of exercise that would benefit my body and mind, and improve my health. I identified the mornings as my best time, so I set my alarm 20 minutes earlier than usual to start my day with an exercise routine that can be done any place, any time, and no props necessarily needed. However, I do recommend a watch or clock so you are able to keep track of your intervals and a jump rope if you have it but it’s not necessary.   JUMPING JACKS Jump Into Action - 1 minute warm up To start, one minute of the aerobic exercise jumping jacks will get your cardio vascular system pumping. This exercise is performed by jumping to a position with t

The Liebster Award

Image
First, I want to thank God, the Academy and my cousin Abree who tagged me for the Liebster Award on her blog er4schen  -- an inspiring blog about exploration, investigation and inquiry. What pray tell is the the Liebster Award? My sentiments exactly until I read Abree’s post about the cyber award given to bloggers by other bloggers.  My first thought was chain letter but, as I researched it a bit more, I realize that it is more about bloggers empowering other bloggers – primarily newbies – to help endorse and promote their blogs. So, unless you are a famous blogger with a successful brand, who wouldn’t want a little help from their friends in the blogger sphere? To start, the rules of accepting the Liebster Award are as follows: Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog Cut and paste the Liebster Award badge on your blog Post 11 interesting tidbits about yourself Answer questions your nominator has presented Create a list of questions (5

Five Top Looks at the 88th Annual Academy Awards

Image
Previously posted on onmogul.com   This past Sunday, Hollywood A-listers came out to honor the nominees and winners of the 88 th Annual Academy Awards ceremony in Tinsel Town. Despite not being able to ask “who” they were wearing, our favorite celebs did not disappoint us with “what” they were wearing.   Here are a few of my favorite looks: Charlize Theron:   Lady in Red Photo credit: Mike Pont/WireImage   My heart skipped a beat when I saw Charlize Theron on the Red Carpet.   Theron sizzled in a red Haute Couture Dior gown. The plunging neckline and $3.7 million of Harry Winston diamonds only added to her “Mad” fire.   Cate Blanchett: Always a vision Photo credit: Getty Images   Cate Blanchett never disappoints on the big screen or on the red carpet and this year’s Oscars were no exception.   Blanchett’ whimsical Armani dress was sea green and embellished with three-dimensional flowers. The “Carol” star consistently exudes a certain Ă©lan. Naomi Watts: Givin

Five Fashionating Trends from Fall 2016 RTW Fashion Shows

Image
Previously posted on onmogul.com As a voyeur from afar – I waited with unrestrained excitement to get a glimpse of the looks revealed during Fall 2016 Fashion Weeks; Pray tell, I was not disappointed. Fanciful frocks with exaggerated embellishments such as feathers, ruffles and meadows full of faux flowers seemed to float down runways; Lace and fur vied with one another for attention and seemingly melded into one schizophrenic mixed medium; and there was no shortage of Jacquard fabric that would make any 18 th C entury French royal proud. However, my breath literally escaped me when I saw the images from the Marchesa show.   Flowing, ethereal gowns that would be an impeccable choice for this Sunday’s Oscars awards in Los Angeles; and don’t even get me started about the mini dresses adorned with appliques and frills… absolutely fabulous for a movie premier.     Photo: Luca Tombolini / Indigital.tv    But then I realized, it may be Ready-to-Wear (RTW) but wearable
