Fashionably Fashionating Fridays: Jason Wu for Target

The battle for the Super Bowl won’t be the only skirmish going on this Sunday Feb. 5.

With the launch of Jason Wu’s women’s clothing and accessories collection at Target and, after the Missoni mêlée, there are bound to be some scuffles in the aisles.
Wu, a Manhattan-based Taiwanese American fashion designer, has partnered with the retail giant as part of its designer collaboration – bringing low-cost designer goods to the masses.

Wu, who started his career as a doll clothing designer, studied at Parsons the New School for Design and interned with fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez.
With the earnings from his successful doll designing career, he launched his first collection in 2006 and was awarded the Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2008.  However, it wasn’t until Michelle Obama, a noted Wu customer, wore his designs during her husband’s campaign and a show stopping gown to the Inaugural Ball, that he gained much notoriety.

Everyone has been, as my friend Rachel would say, koo-koo bananas about him ever since, but now us mere mortals have a chance to covet Wu’s designs.
Wu’s collection will be launched in Target stores and online for a limited time, from Feb. 5 to March 6, 2012.  It will feature his signature styles for women and a selection of accessories such as scarves and handbags.  Prices range from $19.99 to $59.99 while accessories will most likely be $19.99 to $49.99.

So, get those tennies on and I’ll see you on the line.
Racked LA has posted all of the Targets in the U.S. which are carrying the Jason Wu line. Check it out:  http://la.racked.com/archives/2012/02/01/mapped_every_single_la_target_carrying_jason_wu.php
